Wood-turner says his MARK V holds its own with the best lathes James Duxbury, North Royalton, OH writes . . . “This unique kaleidoscope is made of native, 40-year-old walnut, trimmed with pear and finished with about 10 coats of tung oil. The legs and main barrel were cut out on the bandsaw. All of the small knobs and main shaft with loose ring and flutes are done on the lathe with the aid of a couple of simple homemade accessories. The gears, fretwork...and remaining small parts are all done with the scroll saw. Then everything gets sanded using the disc and drum sanders. I love my MARK V and use it with accessories to make all sorts of things. With a workshop that’s 12-feet x 22-feet, I thought I was making a compromising choice when I purchased my MARK V, but it’s proven to be a versatile and quality machine.”
NOTE: Mr. Duxbury has earned numerous awards from his local branch of The American Association of Woodturners, whose members, he says, “. . . have many, many years of experience, the best of schooling and very expensive lathes and equipment.” He goes on to say, “My all-in-one Shopsmith MARK V, with a little ingenuity, has held its own with the best of them!” CHECK OUT WHAT OUR OWNER’S ARE SAYING . . . |
